December 20, 2016 | Brian Henry County is a great place to celebrate the holidays and get in the Christmas spirit. There are so many opportunities to create memories that you and your family will treasure forever, and this time of year is certainly characterized by the type of traditions that we carry with us into adulthood. My childhood is full of fond memories of what it is like growing up in a community that puts so much emphasis on how special the Christmas season can be. Maybe you and your family love visiting a local farm and picking out the perfect tree that will be the backdrop for your family photo, opening gifts, or watching classic Christmas movies together. The McDonough Christmas Parade on the McDonough Square is another event that might have appearances in your fondest holiday memories: bundled up, sipping, hot chocolate, and watching the floats and marching bands pass by. It’s possible your family makes it a point to get a photo with Santa on the McDonough Square together every year and then works on some Christmas shopping at the local businesses on the Square. It is such a privilege to serve a community that creates moments that highlight the word “family.” Regardless of what event your family loves to make a priority this time of year, time together is the greatest gift of all.
